Recently a clipboard was passed to me in church (huh, that never happens, right). The requested sign up was for volunteers (this is NEW). Seriously though, the request was for Snow Removal at the Payson Utah Temple. Of course since we have no snow this year, I jumped at the chance to get on the list. Everyone is looking for those blessings that come from clipboard volunteer signups.
All joking aside. I love serving in or at the Temple. I find a peace that comes from just being around/in or on the places we call “The House of the LORD”. Can’t wait to fulfill my assignment.
Just in case you are wondering what week to pray for snow (Jan 29th - Feb 2nd).
January 10, 2018 was an eventful evening as I participated with other ward members in fulfilling a request to volunteer for cleaning of the Ogden Utah Temple. A group of over 90 arrived at 9:30 pm after completing our daily activities. Leaving the world commotion to enter the quiet simple furnishings of the temple, we changed to white scrubs and reported for assignment of cleaning tasks. We vacuumed the carpet floors, scrubbed the tile floor, wiped to dust and antiseptic all of the wood trim of walls, doors, chairs, desks, tables, etc. We continued in these tasks for 3 hours, before retiring to our lockers to change and return home. I might mention my group traveled one hour in each direction, arriving home after 3:00 am. It was a very rewarding experience for me and gave me strength to enjoy life. I encourage all to take advantage of this opportunity.
